ALIGNMENT IS TO BE TREASURED
What are the top Three Outcomes that will
be outstanding success for the company?
What are the top Three Accomplishments you will
make to drive outstanding company success?
What are the top Three Contributions will you make to help
your peers and subordinates drive outstanding company success?
There are two types of critical conversations that leadership teams engage in: Tactical and Strategic.
Of the two, most teams work on the former. And rarely spend enough time delving deep into the second.
As a result, they do not address larger, system-oriented challenges that have significant implications on the very tactical issues.
When the first question is asked, we often get 30-40 different responses from leadership team members. That is the first clue about their alignment – misalignment.
The second question tests whether they are pursuing the goals answered by the first question.
The third question is designed to avoid silos and to build teamwork and camaraderie.
A facilitator is useful to mitigate the leader’s influence and to pull out everyone’s best thinking.
